De'L'Aubiniere was the daughter of English watercolourist, John Steeple. She came with her husband to Victoria as guests in 1886 and stayed for about 1 ¢ years. Even though the couple was here for only a short time, as professional artists, they played a prominent role in the artistic development of the city. They opened a studio and taught such artists as Josephine Crease. They also organized exhibition and tried to get Victoria to open an art school and gallery.// husband was Constant DeL'aubinere
