Open Door Access to Art

Each year the AGGV offers complimentary annual admission to 24 emerging artists from Victoria secondary schools. Students are chosen for their strength in visual arts, their ability to work independently and financial need. Throughout the year, students attend an orientation session at the gallery and curator’s tours of new exhibitions.

They follow up with self-directed visits to the gallery during which they are asked to keep a visual journal in response to what they see in exhibitions. Using their journal as an inspiration, they then create work within their chosen artistic medium. Students for the 2010/11 school year will be selected in September. If you are a student in a Victoria high school and you are interested in being part of the program, talk to your art teacher.
